Unit William and Mary summer activities: AUP students tackle challenges around the world

A number of Auxiliary University Programs Unit William and Mary students participated in formal internships and Coast Guard operational activities throughout the country this past summer. From the nearby waters of Hampton Roads to Chicago, Brazil, and even a planet 57 million miles away from Earth, their activities were as diverse as the locations in which they took place.

Unit William and Mary hosts BIC weekend

From Auburn graduate to Cape May recruit: JD DeCastra reflects on basic training

JD DeCastra, AUP Unit Auburn Class of 2012, reflects on his basic training experience at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May during the fall of 2012. He is currently serving on Coast Guard Cutter Gallatin out of Charleston, S.C. and will report for Officer Candidate School in August. DeCastra's decision to enlist to active duty and attend boot camp following graduation from Auburn is one of many paths that AUP alumni take.

AUP Unit Washington hosts summer operations weekend

Auxiliary University Programs Unit Washington, with the sponsorship of Flotilla Northern Virginia (054-25-12), hosted an AUP Operations Weekend on June 28-30, 2013. Students and staff from AUP Unit Washington, The College of William and Mary, Auburn University, and the Remote Collaborative Unit reported to Columbia Island Marina Saturday morning for an all-hands briefing, detailing three main operations for the coming days.
