Shipmates,

I want to bring your attention to a great accomplishment on the part of Mr. Jacob Thayer, AUP Unit Washington class of 2013, named this past week as the 2015 Auxiliarist of the Year.

Since joining the Auxiliary in 2010, Mr. Thayer has distinguished himself as a unit leader, public affairs officer, vessel examiner, flotilla commander, and project manager. He now serves as a branch chief of project management supporting implementation of the National Commodore’s Strategic Plan across the entire Auxiliary.

We've seen great success for our AUP alumni this year. These successes range from Jacob’s accomplishments, to one of his classmates who recently graduated from Machinery Technician (MK) school in Yorktown, to the 77% acceptance rate of AUP alumni applying to officer candidate school this year, and to the first ever AUP graduate who just recently transitioned from active duty to the maritime private sector after 8 years of distinguished service. We have many reasons to be proud of the collective work done in AUP.

Thank you for your service!

v/r,
Andrew Welch
Director, Strategic Planning
